51°µÍø’s Department of Mathematical Sciences will host a SUMS Math Competition on Friday, May 9 for high school students residing in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Indiana. The competition, held on campus, will allow students to compete as individuals and also as part of a team for scholarship prizes.
Offering up to $5,000 in scholarship prizes, awards will be given to the top three performers in the individual competition and to the top two in the team competition. All students will compete in the individual competition where participants will complete a timed written exam. Â In the team competition, teams are made up of four participants who will compete in a quiz-bowl style tournament. Those participants registering for the team competition who are not already part of a team will be assigned to a team the day of the competition. Schools can send multiple teams and individuals to the event to compete. Participants can choose to compete in the team competition in addition to the individual competitions.
