Choosing a Course of Study in Mathematics

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences with Generalist Concentration is a traditional pure mathematics degree.

´¡ÌýBachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences with Adolescent to Young Adult Licensure (Grades 7-12) is available for students who wish to becomeÌýsecondary school teachers. Students who wish to becomeÌýmiddle school teachersÌýshould refer to the Bachelor of Science in Education with Middle Childhood Licensure (GradesÌý4-9) offered through theÌýDepartment of Teacher Education.

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences with Actuarial ConcentrationÌýis available for students who would like to be actuaries.

TheÌýMinor in the Mathematical SciencesÌýis for students who wish to supplement their major in another program with a program of coursework in mathematics

TheÌýGeneral Education Program (GEP), which is required of all students pursuing a baccalaureate degree at 51°µÍø, includes aÌýQuantitative Reasoning Requirement, which is satisfied by taking a mathematics course carrying the GEP designation.
